The Hunt Is On!

As we complete construction of The Arc’s Overnight Respite Camp Center, we seek items that are needed in order to open the Center’s doors. Many have graciously donated supplies in the past few weeks, but we are still short on items such as sheets, towels, bedspreads, furniture, appliances, etc.

We ask that you look at the list of needed items HERE. You will see that we have been successful in finding many items, and that is great news! Thank you to all who have made donations of new or gently used items that will be put into service.

Does something on this list come to mind that you know about? With any item donated, we will provide you with a donation letter for your tax records.

There is a wide array of needed supplies, from pillows to a few chairs to a DVD player! If you see items marked off on the list, please note that these items have been donated thanks to the generosity of many. If you have a few supplies or furniture pieces to donate, please give us a call at 717-920-2727.

We also have a number of sponsorship opportunities available for the Respite Camp Center. Please click here for additional information.

How You Can Help

Our Respite program provides individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities different opportunities to experience a variety of supportive and supervised activities, while providing needed respite and support for their families and caregivers.

Until 2016, this program was provided at The Sertoma Center, which was located in the secluded mountains outside of Harrisburg. Considering the facility’s isolated location and recognizing the need for a larger presence within the community, we decided to relocate Respite operations to our campus. After nearly a year of planning and construction, our new Respite Center, located at 2551 Walnut Street in Penbrook Borough, will soon be ready to open for business! However, before we can officially open the Respite Center’s doors, we are in need of support to add the finishing touches that will help create a safe, inviting, relaxing, and engaging atmosphere for all program participants.

Please click here for information on opportunities to help make our Respite Center a “home away from home” for consumers and how your generosity will be recognized.
